Has anyone installed a bike rack on to the spare tire like the Yakima SpareRide model does? It would require moving the rear camera on to the bike rack itself. If so, please share how you accomplished that and if you had the same style rack.

Welcome to BroncoRaptor.com! 🍻 Hopefully someone on this site may offer some insight on a solution. My initial thought was concerning the extra weight on the tailgate, not sure if it's a big concern since we haven't seen any published weight limit, just something to keep in mind and monitor.

Ive done a lot of looking at bike racks for my Raptor and haven’t seen any Bronco using a Spareride. Not saying it can’t be done, but its not common.

Weight on tailgate is significant concern, but if you’re not wheeling and not swinging the tailgate with the bike(s) in place it may be okay. Or it may not. There is no guidance on tailgate or spare tire mount static or dynamic load limits.

The other concern is the effort and cost required to relocate the camera will probably be significant. i was thinking you might be able to see camera relo examples from folks who’ve done spare deletes, but I think the camera typically goes into the tire mount cover, so that probably won’t help.

I’m running a Küat NV 2.0 rack and a Pivot 2.0 Swingaway Extension to extend the rack past the spare tire and allow the tailgate to be fully opened with the bikes still on the rack. It can also be used as a hitch extension for other uses. No need to make Mods, can handle the weight of two pedal assist MTBs and it’s easily removable, but probably costs a bit more than the Sparerider and a camera relocation solution.

good luck
