Made the drive from Salem Oregon to Sacramento CA to pick up my brother then on to Las Vegas. Arrived at Red Rock Casino Resort Friday evening, highly recommend this Hotel for anyone attending Nevada Off Rodeo. Great service, room was very nice and several really good restaurants.
Got up early Saturday morning and grabbed some coffee from the lobby Starbucks then made the 30 minute drive to the starting location for Off Rodeo. Waited a few minutes for a staff member to open the gate and check us in. Parking was the same location as the Bronco Experience, but instead of taking a shuttle to the pavilion we just walked up a short path to the Raptor Lodge. This was a developed in the time since we were last there in November 2021.
Inside the Raptor Lodge we signed our waivers and checked in with the staff, we were given the option to purchase a video add-on to have a recording of our day’s events. HIGHLY recommend this option if you are doing the Raptor experience. They use high quality Race Logic cameras with telemetry.
We gathered in the drivers room to have a briefing and introduction to our guides for the day. Both of our guides were professional drivers with many years of experience. Once we finished our briefing we gathered outside to discuss some driving tips. One guest was selected to drive the first obstacle to demonstrate the trail assist function, which was a drop off to the short obstacle course.
Once we finished with the short demonstration we each climbed into our designated Raptors and made our way to the trail. We spend the morning doing some basic trail driving with a mix of riverbed, dry wash and some rock obstacles.
About noon we headed back to the lodge for a catered lunch and refreshments.
After lunch we got back in the Raptors and started the long slow drive from base camp to Raptor Valley. This was a mix of fire roads, and dry wash. A very bumpy dusty drive, but also very scenic. Iconic Nevada desert and rock outcropping.
Once we arrived at the Raptor Valley we had a bathroom break and then a short briefing from the head instructor. Raptor valley is located in a former mining camp and they have developed an Ultra 4 type short course to test the limits of,the Bronco Raptor. Once the briefing was finished, we were instructed to don our helmets and proceed to our vehicles. We each had a designated instructor to take us around the course once to show us the lines, throttle and braking techniques. Then it was our turn. This was the definitely the best part of the whole experience.
Once we all finished our laps, we headed back to base camp for a catered dinner and to pick up our flash drives with the days videos.
All in all an excellent experience and cannot recommend the Raptor Off-Rodeo day enough.
