There's a massive thread over on 6G regarding the mold in color (MIC) tops failing but I thought I'd post info here as I deal with the issue even though it's not Raptor specific.

My initial, rather small crack has spread a bit and I now have a bunch of new ones on the driver's side cargo shell. All are around the side windows which, ironically, are part of the recall and my Bronco is affected. They sold it to me knowing the recall hadn't been done. I was aware and knew I'd need to come back for the window seal and the crack.

I'm actually sitting at the dealer right now and they apparently need a couple of hours to are done examining before and have said the cargo section of the top needs to be replaced. Was approved almost immediately so that's good.

Right now physical cracks are limited to the cargo portion of the roof. I have a very wavy finish on one corner of the passenger's side front panel. It's visible and you can definitely feel it by touch and they've submitted that to Ford for further review. I've not seen any other cracks on either the rear passenger panel or either front panels. Generally, I have the honeycomb pattern throughout but I actually don't mind that. I'm weird.

Pics. This is the one I knew about when I bought it. It has since grown/expanded out and this is an accurate representation as of today. Driver's side towards the front of the rear cargo area.

This group of cracks below is new. They were not there when I bought the vehicle the end of December. I hand wash my vehicle, two bucket method with soap that's safe for ceramic coating. So no harsh chemicals in other words. I don't treat the top or at least I haven't yet. I think 303 Aerospace is approved and I have a bit of that.

They came back pretty quick (I was expecting a few hours wait) and said the rear is definite and they're checking on the front panels with their wavy texture. Pics below. Feels like the surface of a pumpkin but it's hard to photograph.

Unsurprisingly, the top is back ordered and I let them know I was in no hurry. I have about 10 days left on my Ford Blue certification and a full year of the comprehensive warranty with more than enough milage based on how much I drive each year. I made sure to mention it's ordered with the roof liner and they're going to do it all at once, replace the top and do the rear glass under the recall. I actually saw a spot on mine where the glass wasn't sealed all that well but it's rattling and doesn't look like it'll fall out. I'll report back once the new top is ordered and installed.

If you're getting close to the end of the 3/36 comprehensive warranty, I'd take a very, very hard and detailed look at your top. After the comprehensive warranty expires, even if you have an extended Ford warranty like I do, the top is not covered. I'd go so far as to pull the entire top off, set it on the ground and really look. The driver's side cracks (arrows) are almost invisible unless you catch them just right. If you run your finger over the top of the cracks, they can be felt.

There are some owners who are on their third replacement top already. Because they're back ordered, I'm hoping I get one where they've thoroughly gone through the construction logistics and identified points of introduced (future) failure (wishful thinking) or I get a painted top. I almost don't want a painted as it's one more thing to try and keep from getting scratched up. I wouldn't want a Cactus top, it'd have to be black as I like that contrast between the body color and the MIC top.

Ugh - that sucks. I guess I need to do a thorough investigation of my top. I haven’t really noticed anything obvious but it never gets to verify. Thanks @Ape Factory for the heads up!

When you said that you thought the 303 was approved, what was your source? Something directly from Ford or just supportive comments from other owners that recommend it? My impression was to not use anything on it but mild soap and water.

My top was giving me issues early on. Big reason I swapped to the armadillo aluminum top.

My rear shell was replaced last year for the same cracking around the windows. It was brand new on the lot. I had them order a replacement while I signed paperwork. 303 isn’t the problem.

How is the color (shade) match with the other 3 sections?

Just checked my 2022 Raptor hardtop with 5300 miles & wife’s 2023 Badlands hardtop with 20k miles and I’m unable to see any issues around the windows as @Ape Factory showed above. Both, I ceramic coated when new and both are on-road miles only.

From the side view, you can’t tell, but from a top down view (the one I have from inside my home) I can see a very slight shade difference. Not enough to draw my eye to it, but because I stared at it post install, I picked up on it. It doesn’t bother me. The cracks were atrocious. Looked like crap when the sun hit it.

Not all, even new, are a perfect shade match from the side, could be contributed to sunlight reflection. Therefore yours is probably just as close as most. Good to know your replacement top is that close/consistent.

I did see some web style of fine cracks on the top of the rear section when i work on my RTT few weeks ago. didn't play any attention to it. Will I may have to now.

Just had mine replaced a couple of weeks ago. The cracking was between the window and the rear door on the driver side- just in the flat area not touching the window.

I dont see any difference with the color, but they did forget the liner. As soon as I got it home, I opened the rear hatch and both the power lines came off immediately- then I noticed the missing headliner. My dealer doesn't have a glass guy, so Safelite came and did all the glass work.

I asked about the newer black painted tops and they told me they were not available even for them to order as a replacement part yet. I would prefer this route as they do appear to have a stronger shell.
