I have been looking to add a winch, at what point is the extra weight of mods too much for the suspension? I already get some sway when stopping due to the weight of the rack.

i load a lot more stuffs than you from your picture, and I have a high winch installed. I don't see any problem. I see you have a hi-lift jack on the top, IMO you can save some weight on that thing and get a winch is more useful.

I suspect adding some additional weight up front will actually help offset the your “junk in the trunk” and actually help with balancing your rig. But, to answer your question - if you are already experiencing a change in handling characteristics due to your current set up that seems like a solid indication that you should explore some suspension modifications. (Don’t ask me specifically which ones or what because I am not that smart - however, I am sure there are folks here that can provide insights for you).

One of the biggest issues with exceeding GVWR is the braking power and distance. I am not familiar with any brake upgrades for the Bronco Raptor, but that would likely be a good thing to look into.

I will need to do that research in a couple of months, after I get my TRMR rack, RoadShower, Rotopax, and winch installed.

Interesting thing today. I just installed a winch ( install report to come). I find the front end does not weave around as much on high speed dirt trails. As well, I don't really find much difference bouncing around. I thought with the extra weight I would notice the front end bouncing more when getting small amounts of air off obstacles. The Raptor handles the weight well.

I am not in your situation with a rack so can't comment on that. I just found it interesting with the new weight up front.
