39 to 40 Inch Tires for the Bronco Raptor

40's look pretty cool on these, but having to run a 3" lift collar to clear them just doesn't seem like a great idea. I'm always concerned about CV angles and premature wear when you start getting that far out of factory range. Maybe it would be a non-issue, but I'd rather run a 1.5" collar and 39" BFGs. Actually, I think it looks perfect with 39s and no collar, but if you are going to run it hard offroad you are going to want a little lift. 39s are just right from a proportion standpoint in my opinion.View attachment 6607
What is the overall increase in hight with this setup? I would assume that 2.25 collars running 39s would add 3.25 to the vehicle height? Did you say the 39s will clear with 1.50 collars?

Yes, your assumption is correct. Overall height increase is going to be whatever your lift height is, plus 1/2 the change in tire diameter increase. Ie, if your stock 37 BFG is actually 36.5" tall, and you go to the 39 BFG (38.5"), you will add 1" to your lift height to get the overall increase. So, 2.25" collars and 39s adds 3.25" to total height. No lift with 39s only adds 1" to overall height of the truck.

39's clear with no suspension mods for most street driving. I think you could easily get away with 1.5 collars for all but the most extreme off roading.

and, not to mention the extra 10+ lbs going to 40's.

Is this CG Bronco Raptor on spring collar lifts? Looks Perfect! Thank you for sharing.
No lift on the CG BRaptor. Stock suspension. It really is a great proportion/look.

The only downside to the BFG 39 is that it is considerably more expensive than something like a 40x13.50r17 Toyo MT. Like $250 per tire different, so that adds up when you are getting a set of 5 tires. The Toyo is almost 1-1/2" taller though. You aren't going to fit that on a BRaptor without doing a lift of some sort.

Here is how it turned out. Went with the 39 BFGs and the 1.5 collar.

Are you guys getting the same size colars all around, or a bigger colar in front than rear, to make it level?
