I just had my passenger side rear shock assembly replaced due to a torn dust boot. Can anyone identify this orange piece that is clamped to the coils? It is not on my original shocks and I’m not sure if this was supposed to be removed during install.

I don’t know for sure but, that certainly looks like a spacer that should be removed so the spring can actually do spring stuff!

It is a shipping retainer. I removed it. All is good.
