Hi Everyone,

As many of you know I am going with five new tires. KO2's D rated. They come with raised white lettering.

I have been reading a lot about this. My plan is to have the white lettering on the inside and not the outside where it is more visible.

Also, I plan on using from Amazon: Enamel Paint Markers MPD-15 | MATTE BLACK - 1 Pack | Permanent Marks on Metal, Glass, Rubber, Plastic & more, Waterproof UV Resistant - to cover the lettering on the inside of the tire.

This seems to be the best plan. Some people paint the lettering with and Ultra Flat Black paint.

Does anyone have any ideas or experience with this? I could also just leave the white lettering on the outside but I am not sure how it would look. Some do it for the vintage look. Others say I don't want to advertise for BFG, or that went out in the 70s and no way.

I have been debating the white on the outside but it would change a lot. Anyone like it?

Thanks

It's definitely a personal preference, but I've always hated the white lettering, even on my EB's. When I read your other post about getting the RWL's, my first thought was to mount them with the RWL facing inwards, which I've done several times before.

Also, not sure if it's still a thing with the RWL's, but I had a couple of sets of them that came from the factory with a blue coating on the white letters. It was some type of protective coating that had to be scrubbed off. In my case, I had them mounted facing inwards, so it didn't really matter.

Good luck with whatever you decide. Either way you go, you've still got a badass Raptor!

I deleted my other post by mistake. I was editing the post and pressed delete. Here is the update I was adding.

Thanks!

As I said before I have really decided to put the lettering on the inside.

I just called them. They are in. They come in with a blue coating as you say. It is so the white lettering doesn't scuff in transit. I am hoping it will perhaps be enough to cover the lettering and with the dust you won't see much on the inside.

Yeah, once you put a few miles on them, the dirt and grime will probably keep the white letters from being too obvious on the inside.

I like the BFG K02 white lettering, however I agree with the raised black lettering for our Raptor's, seems to be fitting for the extreme off road persona and much less maintenance when doing so. I like your original idea of painting them black on the inside and it will work best when new, just remove the blue first with a tire cleaner. As JR mentions, they will dirty in time off road, but not so much if only street driven, or if you clean the inside of the wheel and tire when rotating like I do. :giggle:

This is the tire and lettering I like for our Raptor's, but likely never in my budget.

Great thanks! I was going to perhaps go over the blue with black but I will remove it first. That makes more sense.

I was looking at stickers you can buy to go over our lettering. Blues and reds but no black. Nice looking tire.

Scrub the blue, give it a quick spray paint and mount them inside. I’ve seen pictures of your original tires, stickers won’t hold up. Neither will the paint for that matter, but it should last long enough to make you forget the RWLs are back there.

That's it done. Thanks. Looking forward to getting them on Monday. I figured the stickers where not the way to go and it seemed perhaps a paint pen was good, with painting in the back of my mind, but painting is a lot easier and will work well. I appreciate the feedback from you and everyone.
