Asking for a friend who has an extended warranty. He's been looking at intercoolers mostly due to the extreme temps seen in his neck of the woods and actually wanting to promote longevity, reduce system stress, particularly the turbos and help safeguard the motor. There is of course, the benefit of reducing heat soak and more consistent performance.

One that caught his eye was the Wagner Tuning The Wagner looks very similar to the Cobb other than end tank differences. Both are cast end tanks (important IMO), both are bar/plate and look to be of similar dimensions. He wants to retain the active shutters and have the easiest installation possible in case the car ever needs to go in for an issue. That eliminates something like the CVF.

Most of the maintenance stuff will be done either at home or by the quicklube service at his local dealer and I don't think they'll even notice or care. Anything big, he'd swap the OEM cooler back in. Other mods are not planned so sticking with the intake, all the OEM piping and of course no tune. I did bring up the fact the Cobb is available in a natural finish which makes it less conspicuous.

He's read TurboS's installation on the Whipple and sees the Cobb slides in from the bottom and allegedly retains the shutter system and rear ducting. He and I are both assuming the Wagner would be the same but isn't sure and has requested info from Wagner.

I do believe he plans on reaching out to his service manager to discuss as well as he'd like to do downpipes but leave the OEM exhaust intact. That's a lot more involved and obviously wouldn't be something that is easily swapped back and forth.

He's done a bit of research on the shutter and ducting system and understands there are some legitimate concerns when removing them. I also happen to design thermal management systems for dual clutch transmissions and thus understand quite a bit about airflow needs and hinderances along with cooling/temp logistics for coolant, oil and transmission fluid systems. So we've discussed extensively and decided to stick with the OEM systems if possible.

Anyone else out there already running the Wagner? https://www.wagner-tuning.com/produ..._Kko5l2QhTTPdaMm-sTABITwSZ3f18JjApdyQQdguaAKC

Keep in mind that all the intercooler choices pull out the bottom with the rear passive shutters making easy to clean/change. However, removing or re-installing the front active shutters requires removal of the bumper.

I like the "Raptor" embossed on the Wagner intercooler end caps, unfortunately once installed they aren't easily noticeable. I also like the corrosion resistant coating idea but would prefer a silver or raw aluminum due to direct sunlight heat soaking.
