What did you do to your Bronco Raptor today?

In Ohio Hear Loberty Twp.
you?

Can't wait to hear how this works out. Also, from Ohio!
I’m in Westlake. Just requested the cal file From whipple. Plan to upload the tune as soon as I get it and do the intercooler this weekend. My son is starting an ASE mechanics 2 year program this fall so he’s going to do the intercooler job with some supervision. Should be a fun and memorable job.

Got this from fedex today. Install next week when I’m off work. I’m a little nervous about the tune and ford warranty but here we go.View attachment 8229
Let me know how you like the tune. I got the Whipple intercooler when they first came out and have been running a JB4 with it. My bet would be that Whipple tune is a little more noticeable. I am sure you will enjoy both parts.

been under the weather with a high fever for 5 days. 🤒 WTH?

Day 6
  • Completed rerouting wiring for camera, 3rd light and license plate light.
  • Completed rerouting wiring for Rigid 3x3 lights to AUX 2 switch (15 amp)
    • Pulled a 2nd wire from passenger floor front (future use)

Day 7
  • Installed JCR dual swing gates (3 day project)
    • remove rear wheel well liner
    • remove rear flares
    • remove bottom corner trim
    • remove rear tail light
    • install swing gates
    • then reinstall all of the above
  • Modified JCR universal tire mount prior to install (passenger swing gate)
  • Installed Exp-One Geri can mounts (driver swing gate)
Lots of lessons learned

It's coming along nicely! I'm really interested to see the final results.

I have been continuing the sound deadening process... I have noticed a huge difference so far... The doors are done and the rear trunk and sides. hopefully ill get under the seats this weekend. Still waiting on the mount for my twin ARB for behind the spare tire. Also Baja Lights are ordered... A few pics just for fun.

did u before and after measure dB readings?

90-94!? That seems high. Was there a headwind or strong crosswind? The highest I got was 75dB at 80mph
I was driving to the river and thats what was on the meter at the time. Today I was on the 405 South near LAX and was reading 64 but when driving back 405 North it was at 70. Its working 100%. I still have not finished under the seats; yet its a noticeable difference. Im also hearing what feels like more from the top now which was expected.

question! I'm planning to install the hidden ARB compressor on the spare tire as well! did yours came without the mounting? or came wrong?

It just shipped yesterday. So I can not answer that yet. Ill keep you updated...

How much extra fuel are you able to carry now ? That looks to be an awesome set-up ! 💪
🥃
I can get 3x 4-gal Geri cans (gas) on the swing gate and two on the roof rack (water).

I was surprised 🌶️ averaged 20.3 mpg with an 800+ lb load coming back from Cheyenne via Steamboat Springs. I also think Sport steering and suspension are the way to go on the road; otherwise, normal feels a little loosy goosy.

I have a friend who makes custom floor mats do something a little extra to add color to the interior... I think he did a great job! We kept the rear matts simple Working on the rear cargo area next. Just for fun. Soon to start the exterior and performance upgrades... Cant Wait!

That seems like a Huge difference, good job, far quieter than I expected and I have dynamat in 2 of my vehicles.

Cool Floor mats, carpeted seem So much more plush.

I was really impressed. i have used dynomat for years; never had this much of a noticeable difference. SoundSkins for the win on this one. The carpets are super thick dificult to see that they are shaved lines.

For comparison, I just returned from a Bronco Raptor highway pleasure run, according to my apple watch I was at 72db at 75mph, 74db at 80mph, baja exhaust, 10th gear on a concrete freeway. Expecting the sound level to go up when I get the SPD downpipes installed, which I think the exhaust is a good noise, road noise that you deadened is undesirable noise. What I've read is that vehicle doors are the major contributor to road noise inside the vehicle, which helps explain how the db level was significantly reduced for you.

I used a Reed instruments R8050... My friend is a sound engineer for home theaters. Its pretty accurate. I never had less then 86db before. I do notice that it seems louder from the top now that below the window line had the soundskins. Either way im hapy with the outcome.
