Same was said to me by my dealership as well as Ford Performance..If it was an aftermarket tune and not offered by Ford, possible different story...

It’s almost impossible to screw up. If you have basic computer skills, like know how to plug a cable in to a computer and open an application, you can do this without issue. If there is no difference in the tune from the dealership or what you do to install it, I can’t see how ford has any argument over something happening due to the tune. It’s their tune, they know it’s safe enough since it’s very mild. Honestly I think they tested it with that much power, dialed it back for emissions, knowing they could also sell the tuner for extra $$$$.

Yes, as part of the process, you download your stock calibration and have the option to also upload to Ford servers in case the data, in a rare case, gets corrupted. You can always revert back to stock like most all other tuners.

Hi PK - did you ever get this installed in the NYC area? i put a call into my dealer and they said they didn't service ford performance parts/installation and directed me to Levittown. Curious if you got it in.
you are right no other dealer in the city will touch the installation except Biener Ford, I have them install it for me last month. Not cheap, I have it done with oil change and tire rotation with $700 tax included. I think upstate dealer maybe cheaper, I think someone say 450 something + tax, But lazy to drive + tolls and gas may ended up about the same.

What do the dealers do with the display when you are done? Put it back in the box and give it to you? I just want to make sure that they don't mount it anywhere inside by default.
they ask me do I want to mount on the windshield or not. I say No, so they just give me back the devices. They also created an account on ford performance for me and have the original mapping uploaded. I change the password after they are done.
I had mine installed at Scarsdale Ford (Westchester County). They banged me for a flat fee of 2 hrs labor for their 20 minutes of work & warranty peace of mind.
How much was that? I Was quoted 650 from Levittown.

I just picked up my Bronco and unfortunately, the tune couldn't be installed. They spent a couple of hours on it last night, but kept getting error codes when doing verification. They couldn't figure out why. I have to bring it back next week to try again. So it certainly wasn't a 20 minute install.
Flat fee $418 (2 hrs labor @ $209/hr) plus tax. Ask for Manny, he was a terrific Service Advisor.

I tried a couple of times to get a Procal installed on my Black Diamond and they finally figured out that the code was already used. Someone had stolen the code. It seems at Ford. It took them a long time do figure it out. I never did get it installed as I had an opportunity on a Raptor and I took it.
I am looking forward to getting this tune done soon. They will figure it out. All the best.
It doesn’t take 2 hours but that was the “flat” fee they charged. I was surprised to find that MANY dealerships won’t do the tune.
After my experience with installing the Whipple tune, the 2 hour rate charge seems quite reasonable. Think of it as rebuilding a client on a computer network, a unexpected problem could occur at anytime. Modern vehicles are a network of CPU's all communicating in harmony. Once a tune is installed the vehicle should be test driven and all the driver selectable settings tested. With my initial installation of the Whipple tune the exhaust mode selection didn't function, after multiple troubleshooting attempts I sat at a gas station approximately 30 minutes reprogramming again which did resolve the problem. I agree "IF" all goes as planned and a less than comprehensive test evaluation of all the other modules then a 30 minute rate charge may be adequate.It doesn’t take 2 hours but that was the “flat” fee they charged. Well got my Ford Performance Tune installed today by my dealership. They only charged me 1Hr labor time which is fine. So here are my initial impressions.
Shifting : So much better on all levels! Is just much more pleasant to drive hands down. Sport mode is my go to now. Used to I was never that much a fan of sport mode because of the harshness between the shifts especially from 4-5 and 5-6. Just smooth as butter now. The down shifts going down to third are still there but not like it was before when it felt like it just slapped into gear and you’d feel pushed forward almost.
The power : now at first I was like meh but I wasn’t really giving it the full beans, but when I was in a safe area I goosed it and even in Normal mode it came alive! You could really feel that added torque! Now it’s not fish tailing down the line or anything but it scoots!
Verdict : I personally am very happy with it. If you’re trying to drag race and all that I wouldn’t go for this but for an everyday use it’s wonderful IMO. Just makes me happy with my Braptor all over again.
